MEET LA MUZA: Nélida
Meet Nélida, she and Polet met while attending art school although they both agree that their friendship also started at the dance floor. They are now neighbors in Brooklyn and Nélida is currently in charge of the patterns and production of our collections. Nélida brightens our days with her exotic essence and eccentric personality, which brings a great balance to the Muza team.
Where are you from?
I'm from a little town in Puerto Rico called Comerio. In my early 20's I moved to San Juan to study fashion design, that's where I met Polet.
What do you do for Muza?
I'm in charge of the pattern making and production of the collections.
What is your favorite Muza piece and why?
My favorites are the Negrura Pants and the Fever Bodysuit, together they are the perfect combo and you can rock the pieces separately with any outfit. They bodysuit has an amazing fit and it's sexy AF.
What has been most inspiring for you about Muza?
It's a very empowering brand and what excites me the most is the enthusiasm Polet puts in every collection and garment. To know who you are and be confident in what you believe in is a main trait to become successful and she's the best at it.
What is your favorite type of lingerie?
I love bloomer shorts they are very very comfortable.
What do you wear in bed?
or summer mostly my PJ's but for Fall I wear a long cotton knit dress that keeps me warm. I'm a Caribbean woman, anything below 55 degrees makes me cry.
Who is your style icon?
If I had to narrow it down it down to one it would be Paloma Faith, I love her eccentric, strong and very put together looks. All the power and character she portrays in her style is reflected in the way I dress because I'm not shy at all.
What is your life motto or favorite quotes?
My life motto is to laugh no matter what, that's my therapy. Even if you fall down the stairs, life is too short to go around whining about what I could've done better, just keep going there is no room for BS. So for every situation I have a smile on my face. Mark Twain couldn't have said it better: "The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.''
If you could choose a song to describe your life which would it be and why?
Going gets tough by The Growlers, moving to New York was a big change for me and every situation has been a challenge every since I moved. It's a lesson everyday but it's been so fun and it has made me so much stronger.
